Play is perhaps the most foundational problem-solving and meaning-making practice humans engage in. In PAH 160D1 (Play: An Interactive Introduction), students explore the history of play, it's connections to education and human development, and the ways that play can be used to improve our lives and our communities. For her Honor's project in the course, Makenna Aitken explores how the COVID19 pandemic has changed her community's relationship to their own play activities. Makenna's excellent project--presented as a mini-documentary--combines interviews, the work of play scholars, and her own keen analysis to demonstrate how play transforms and is transformed by crisis.
