The Spring 2024 iteration of Bloom provided an opportunity to celebrate student creativity and public engagement across classes and internships in the Department of Public & Applied Humanities. The Spring 2024 event was curated by Professors Jacqueline Barrios and Jasmine Linabary. The event included 34 digital and eight live projects -- from fashion zines to guidebooks, from intercultural spatial design to radical wellness campaign -- and a wonderful turnout of students, faculty, administrators, and campus partners. It was an event of meaningful attention, interest, and praise, centering students’ work and the crucial importance of the humanities generally, and our work at Public & Applied Humanities more specifically. Eight projects were recognized with creative awards evaluated by a jury that included Jonathan Jae-an Crisman, Matt Mars, Emma Whittaker, and Feng-Feng Yeh.
