Maria Felix enhanced her bilingual and leadership skills as an intern at Cyracom International.
How did you get your internship?
I completed my internship at Cyracom International as a Spanish interpreter. I had previously worked as a part time interpreter at the company, and when considering my internship options, I asked my supervisor for the opportunity to grow my career within the company by developing new skills and gaining experience in new areas. We came together to an agreement of working as a Spanish interpreter while training and assisting new employees.
What skills did you develop in this internship?
Throughout my internship as an interpreter, I had several tasks to complete during my shift. A main responsibility was answering calls and interpreting from English to Spanish and vice versa. I also had the task of completing a report for each call, which required that I take detailed notes during the calls.
Through these experiences, I gained the ability to type fast, work with Microsoft tools, and complete research while on a call. I also improved my vocabulary in both Spanish and English.
What was the most significant contribution you made?
I trained as a coach to help with the new employees who were hired, and taught them the necessary skills and new knowledge needed to be successful.
